My Toyota Camry cost me $23,000. The median income for my area is $71,627 per year. In a year with two weeks off for vacation, that is about 260 working days. If we work 8 hours per day, that means we work about 2,080 hours, which means we earn about $34.00 per hour. When I divide the cost of the car by $34, I find that it takes me about 676 hours to purchase the car, which is all of my salary for almost 85 days. (This does not include the fact that the government takes out about 30% in taxes, so the actual number of hours is quite a bit higher!) Here's a picture of the car!
